More B1G Ideas

Episodes two and three of the B1G Idea are now online for your listening pleasure. For those of you who don't remember, the B1G Idea is a project I manage at Birmingham City University where in conjunction with Birmingham Futures we are producing a series of podcasts on issues that face young professionals working in Birmingham, B1. The latest episodes look at the importance of businesses working with the creative industries and green issues. I am currently in the process of developing the next three episodes. Even if you are not a young professional working in B1 they still may be to your liking. Give them a listen.

Joomla

Things have been quite busy recently, I have been organising the next two episodes of the B1G Idea podcast series and working on various other projects. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be given a crash course on how to use the open source content management system Joomla by Andy from 3Minds.

It has been a long time since I have been involved in web design and things have certainly moved on from basic HTML. I have been asked to manage two different websites: the aforementioned B1G Idea website and my colleague Sam Coley's Radio Developement website. Both of these were initially created using Joomla, a system I had only heard of in passing.

Once you manage to familiarise yourself with the jargon it is surprisingly usable and presents the developer with a wealth of options. I am considering moving this blog to a Joomla powered website which would be a way for me to develop my Joomla skills and understand its workings a little better. But, as with all other personal projects, it depends on whether I have the time available to do this.
