Things have been quite busy recently, I have been organising the next two episodes of the B1G Idea podcast series and working on various other projects. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be given a crash course on how to use the open source content management system Joomla by Andy from 3Minds.
It has been a long time since I have been involved in web design and things have certainly moved on from basic HTML. I have been asked to manage two different websites: the aforementioned B1G Idea website and my colleague Sam Coley’s Radio Developement website. Both of these were initially created using Joomla, a system I had only heard of in passing. Once you manage to familiarise yourself with the jargon it is surprisingly usable and presents the developer with a wealth of options. I am considering moving this blog to a Joomla powered website which would be a way for me to develop my Joomla skills and understand its workings a little better. But, as with all other personal projects, it depends on whether I have the time available to do this.-
