In a follow-up to my earlier post SlySoft have now released yet another version of their excellent software that supports Blu-Ray as well as HD-DVD. It has the same features as the previous HD-DVD only version but will also remove region coding from Blu-Ray discs and any DRM. I have not tried it yet but will post my thoughts once I have installed the software.

Also, I watched the Australian HD-DVD of First Blood last night and was very impressed. A number of reviewers use the term ‘wow factor’ to apply to HD discs that have transfers that are of a high quality and literally make you go “wow”. For me, this is one of those discs. I was impressed by the US release of The Thing but First Blood, coincidentally released in the same year (1982), is better. Expect a review shortly.
